Meet the Panelists:
Shari Friedrichsen - A senior teacher with over 45 years of experience, is a key facilitator of the Himalayan Institute’s Vishoka Meditation Course and Teacher Training. Her compassionate and dynamic approach integrates asana, pranayama, and meditation, offering students profound insights into yoga’s transformative power.
Mark Nelson - Drawn to yoga as a way of bringing balance to a busy career as a creative director. He frequently collaborates with the Himalayan Institute, leading retreats and workshops that emphasize the integration of yoga practice with daily life.
Victoria Greene - Considers teaching in itself to be an art form, which by necessity must continually evolve. She is a movement specialist who skillfully combines the authentic teachings of yoga with progressive asana technique.
Jennifer Mohamed - Founder of Jen the Yoga Lawyer, Jen uniquely blends her expertise as an attorney with her passion for yoga and wellness by helping yoga teachers and studios build a strong foundation for their business to thrive. As a seasoned retreat leader, she offers practical insights on creating transformative events that balance structure and creativity.
Amy Lee Flower - Founder of Shanti Students, has transformed over 30,000 lives by bringing yoga, mindfulness, and meditation into schools and communities nationwide. As a trauma-informed Kripalu Yoga teacher and mindfulness advocate, she inspires others with her vibrant outlook and passion for creating programs that empower self-discovery and transformation.
Cari Skier - Cari is a therapeutic art specialist, mixed media artist, certified sound healing practitioner. Known for her unique and soulful creative gatherings, Cari integrates her love of art-making with the healing sounds of sacred instruments to cultivate deeply restorative and empowering experiences.
Maura Manzo - Founder and Director of Camaraderie, has over 15 years of experience in the Philadelphia yoga community. Known for her transformative approach, she integrates social justice, healing work, and contemporary practices, creating impactful experiences. Maura is also a highly regarded teacher, award-winner, and retreat leader.

The Sri Vidya Shrine is the spiritual heart of the Himalayan Institute. This sanctuary offers an ideal setting for silent meditation and group spiritual practice, a cornerstone of the Himalayan Tradition for thousands of years. Open to seekers of all backgrounds and traditions, the Shrine provides a serene, sacred space for meditation, quiet reflection, prayer, and contemplation.
Nourishing Meals
Our nutritionally balanced vegetarian meals are thoughtfully prepared to nourish body, mind, and spirit. Each of our three daily meals is designed to be easily digestible and to support a meditative lifestyle. Sharing meals here naturally fosters connection, offering both deep nourishment and a sense of community.

Nestled in the rolling hills of the Poconos, the Himalayan Institute’s 400-acre campus offers breathtaking views, scenic hiking trails, and quiet spaces for reflection and contemplation. Walking is a favorite activity, whether along our groomed trails or meandering paved roads, inviting both movement and mindful presence in nature.

Our Himalayan Café serves the Institute’s signature chai, coffee, and homemade cookies and treats on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The 24/7 Tea Lounge offers a variety of herbal teas for anytime enjoyment. On campus, the MOKA Origins Factory is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering handcrafted, ethically sourced chocolate and coffee, with free tours and tastings on Saturdays.
