Study Intensive, May 26–29, 2017

The Practice of the Yoga Sutra Master Course is based on the simple premise that yoga is an experiential path, and that experience comes from practice. It is also clear that practice requires precision and the pursuit of perfection. There is no text as complete as the Yoga Sutra in outlining how to make your practice perfect. This master course shares Patanjali’s gift to the world of yoga and the yogis—the finest distillation of the timeless yogic experiences.

In this master course, Pandit Tigunait will share the essence of the practices outlined in Sadhana Pada—the second chapter of the Yoga Sutra. More specifically, he will demystify the super-compact contents of sutras 2:12–18, which serve as the backbone of yogic metaphysics, spirituality, and mysticism. As a special part of this Study Intensive, he will elaborate on the wisdom contained in sutras 2:46–55—the cornerstone of all forms of yoga, tantra, kundalini, and meditative practices.

The objective of the Study Intensive is to instill your mind with the yogic principles and techniques that will allow your practice to become rich and rewarding—an expression of yoga’s promise of perfection.

Prerequisites and Recommendations:

The book The Practice of the Yoga Sutra: Sadhana Pada, by Pandit Tigunait, is the textbook and prerequisite for this master course. You may also wish to read The Secret of the Yoga Sutra: Samadhi Pada, also by Pandit Tigunait.

Practice Intensive, May 29–June 2, 2017

Intense study blossoms into intense practice. This Practice Intensive is designed to let you immerse yourself in the wisdom you have learned during the Study Intensive. Assisted by senior faculty, Panditji will lead all the workshops, demonstrate the specialized practices of Sadhana Pada, answer your questions, and help you fine-tune your own practice. Using the practices described in sutras 2:46–55 as a base, Panditji will highlight the fine points mentioned in the book, and will elaborate on the advanced steps of the practices that are neither mentioned in the book nor taught in the digital course.

The Practice Intensive will culminate in a rare opportunity to learn the subtle points of chaturtha pranayama—a master practice of the tradition (YS 2:51). This is where you’ll experience for yourself how Patanjali’s system of yoga is essential to the understanding and practice of the Sri Vidya school of tantra. As you will discover, chaturtha pranayama and the meditative experience emerging from it empowers us to understand the third chapter of the Yoga Sutra, which, to non-practitioners, appears to be shrouded in mystery.

As a special bonus, Panditji will shed light on sutras 2:18, 19, 23, 44, and 45. Once you understand these sutras in conjunction with chaturtha pranayama, you will come to discover your own inner connection with the Lord of Life—your creator, guide, and eternal friend.
