Campus
Experiencing the energy of the Sri Vidya Shrine, the spiritually charged atmosphere of the HI Khajuraho campus, and the company of like-minded souls is a rare opportunity. The whole campus has been developed with this kind of collective group practice in mind.
The Awakening of a Sacred Space in Khajuraho with Ishan Tigunait
Sri Vidya Shrine
The Sri Vidya Shrine in Khajuraho resonates with a living spiritual vibrancy that carries the everlasting gift of love and inner peace offered by the masters of the Himalayan Tradition. Constructed in 2012 and formally consecrated in 2013 by Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, PhD, Spiritual Head of the Himalayan Institute, the Shrine is an extraordinary sanctum established for personal meditation as well as group practice, and is open to seekers from all spiritual traditions.
Accommodations
Our accommodations have been mindfully designed to reflect the essential simplicity and comfort that you need to rest, renew and be well supported in your spiritual practice. Guest rooms are modestly appointed with twin or king sized beds in our shared rooms, and queen sized beds in single rooms, linens, wool blankets, pillows, and mosquito nets (as needed seasonally and by request). Options include single, double, and triple-occupancy studio rooms with en-suite bathroom, as well as a few double deluxe suite rooms with one shared bedroom, a shared living room and en-suite bathroom. All rooms feature 10’ ceilings, exquisite hand-crafted marble floors and feature built-in wardrobes and dressers for each guest to store their clothes and belongings.
Additionally, all guests at our HI Khajuraho campus enjoy use of a myriad of amenities such as: shared tea lounges with kitchenette, a library, various outdoor spaces for personal asana practice, social gathering, etc., UV purified and filtered drinking water, freshly prepared vegetarian meals, and low-speed Wi-Fi (subject to availability/bandwidth restrictions apply).
Shared Accommodations
A variety of single and shared room options are available. Participants who select a shared room and are traveling solo will be paired with another retreat participant of the same gender. Shared accommodations are a meaningful way to experience campus life and support the collective rhythm of the retreat. For those who prefer greater privacy or have specific personal needs around rest and quiet, we recommend reserving a private room or registering with a roommate of your choice.
Amenities
All guests at our HI Khajuraho campus enjoy access to a wide range of thoughtfully designed amenities that support both retreat and daily living. These include shared lounges with kitchenettes, a library and quiet study spaces, and multiple outdoor areas and verandas for personal asana practice, reflection, and social gathering. The campus offers UV-purified drinking water, low-speed Wi-Fi (subject to availability and bandwidth limitations), on-campus walking trails, and working dairy and garden spaces. Guests also have access to a daily-needs shop and artisan boutique, along with nearby opportunities such as forest reserve hiking trails, Ayurvedic massage services, Panna National Park excursions, and visits to the UNESCO World Heritage temples of Khajuraho.
Meals
Our menu is designed to offer a variety of Indian vegetarian cuisines including traditional North Indian, South India, and Indo-Chinese dishes. Vegan and gluten-free options are available at all main meals. Chai, gingery black tea with milk, is served in the morning and afternoon. We understand that our guests have a variety of dietary needs; if you follow a strict diet (ie. high protein, high/low fat, paleo, strict vegan or gluten-free, no nightshades, etc.), please speak to us before registering.
Our Collective Experience
At the cornerstone of this retreat is a shared group experience—practicing together, sharing meals, participating in daily rhythms, and, for many, living in shared spaces on campus. This kind of collective immersion is deeply supportive of Vishoka Meditation, inviting us to bring clarity, steadiness, and presence not only to formal practice, but to the way we relate with one another throughout the day.
Living and learning in community offers a meaningful opportunity to extend our yoga practice into lived experience. It encourages openness, mutual respect, and a spirit of goodwill, allowing each participant to contribute to an atmosphere of quiet support and shared purpose. When we arrive with generosity of heart and a willingness to meet one another with patience and care, the community itself becomes a powerful support for inner clarity and deepened personal practice.
