Yoga and Vedanta – Twin Engines of Sadhana

Taught live at HI Khajuraho during Sri Sukta Sadhana Immersion Stage 2
February 8–22, 2024

How mysterious is the force that splits us in two — good and bad, wanting and not wanting, liking and disliking. How patently and boldly it makes us stand against ourselves and sets a stage for an ongoing war in each of us. How carelessly we grant asylum to the forces of light and darkness, knowledge and ignorance, and godly and demonic tendencies, and then complain that the borders of our mind and soul are unsafe. This course, Yoga & Vedanta—Twin Engines of Sadhana, holds the solution to this complaint, and outlines a plan for transforming our inner adversaries into benevolent friends.

Yoga means union. It empowers us to restore the innate connection between body, breath, mind, and soul. It is a system of total transformation. Its transformative power, however, comes from the deeper understanding of the forces which govern and guide our inner intelligence. The inner intelligence holds the mystery of our soul and its relationship with Creation and its Creator. The tradition which unveils the deeper understanding of that force is called Vedanta. In practice, yoga and Vedanta go hand in hand; one provides nourishment to the other. Together, they form a complete body of sadhana, empowering us to peek into the deeper dimension of our mind and consciousness, and eventually reach a place where the war between our conscience and confusion comes to an end, the broken pieces of our mind and heart are united, the world within and without is at peace, and we gain a firsthand experience of true fulfillment and true freedom.
