True compassion manifests from the wisdom acquired from upeksha, a state of non judgemental understanding of ourselves and the world. True compassion is active, but only wisdom-driven compassion has virtue and is effective and sustainable. How can we address the suffering we see in the world and avoid the pitfalls of either becoming irrational and emotional, or burying our heads in the sand? How can we enter the battlefield of life with compassion without damaging our minds and losing discrimination? Drawing on world history and the stories of Rama, Buddha, and Jesus, Panditji describes how our practice of upeksha and mudita overcomes selfishness, and how active practice of wisdom-driven compassion supports our perennial happiness.
