Juliana Mitchell

Juliana Mitchell (Program Director and Lead Teacher) is a yoga therapist, a yoga teacher, and a teacher of teachers. She’s led multiple, weekly prenatal yoga classes since 2006 and assisted numerous expectant couples via her breath-centric birth preparation workshops from 2008-2015. Juliana’s been the director of or on faculty for 25+ yoga teacher trainings, including being the director and creator of Carried Downward Breath – A Foundational Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training, which she’s led 11 times over 8 years. Currently Juliana is collaborating with Dr. Barbara Chubak (a urologist and assistant professor with Mount Sinai, NY) on a clinical study to assess the impact of yoga on certain forms of pelvic floor dysfunction. And previously she was prenatal yoga mentor to Dr. Shilpa Babbar, an obstetrician who was conducting a randomized controlled trial to measure the impact of prenatal yoga on fetal behavior (Truman Medical Center, Kansas City). Introduced to yoga by her mom when she was 11, Juliana began exploring the healing capacities of the breath at age 18. She’s studied with master teachers in the US, Italy, and India. And along the way has earned eight yoga certifications, including Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with Judith Lasater, Pelvic Floor Yoga with Leslie Howard, and certification as a yoga therapist at the 1,000-hour level with the IAYT. Juliana is a committed student of anatomy, kinesiology, the Yoga Sutra, and of the compassion and courage that dwells in our hearts.
