It’s easier than ever to get lost in the day-to-day activities and stresses of the external world. Work, relationships, errands — our focus is almost always on anything and anyone but ourselves.

That’s why reconnecting with yourself is just something you must do. It gives you a chance to celebrate your gifts and understand what really drives your breath, mind, and body. And when you know this, the more you can show up for others and the more you can add to the world around you.

So here are three uniquely powerful ways to develop an enhanced and deepened connection with your true self.

1) Reconnect with Breath ( foundation of yoga practice )

So many of us go through life disconnected from our inner self, looking for something else (or someone else) to complete us. When we draw our awareness deeper inwards, we begin to feel supported, guided, and at peace. Like any relationship, the one we have with ourself requires time and commitment to build.

We will reconnect with our breath during daily yoga practice.

2) Reconnect with Your Mind ( walking meditation )

It’s a simple and comfortable form of meditation that can be particularly valuable for newcomers or anyone who prefers a more active form of this practice. This nontraditional form of meditation is a major key factor in helping to: connect with the environment, communicate with nature, get to know your body, slow you down, strengthen concentration, increase your awareness of intention, expand everyday mindfulness, and connect to the present moment.

3) Reconnect with Your Body ( connective tissue)

The MELT Method® (MELT®) is a simple self-treatment designed to help you stay healthy, youthful, and active for a lifetime. We will learn a simple self-treatment technique that helps prevent pain, heal injuries, and erase the negative effects of aging and active living.

Using MELT hand and foot treatment balls you can learn how to reduce joint pain and muscle tension. Improve flexibility, balance, posture, and core strength as you reduce everyday aches and pains.

Each of our three daily meals is designed to be easily digestible and to support a meditative lifestyle. Sharing meals here naturally fosters connection, offering both deep nourishment and a sense of community.

The Himalayan Institute welcomes people from all walks of life. With a blend of short-term guests, long-term visitors, and a vibrant residential community, the atmosphere here is warm, inviting, and rooted in kindness, generosity, and service. It’s a place where friendships form naturally, often becoming the kind of connections that feel like family, and last a lifetime.
Rest in Nature
Nestled in the rolling hills of the Poconos, the Himalayan Institute’s 400-acre campus offers breathtaking views, scenic hiking trails, and quiet spaces for reflection and contemplation. Walking is a favorite activity, whether along our groomed trails or meandering paved roads, inviting both movement and mindful presence in nature.
Conscious Simplicity
At the Himalayan Institute, we embrace simplicity in all aspects of life, from our surroundings to our approach to yoga. By minimizing distractions, we create space to strengthen the inner self and quiet the mind. Guided by authenticity and grounded in philosophy rather than frills, we support a path of meaningful personal growth.
Treat Yourself
Our Himalayan Café serves the Institute’s signature chai, coffee, and homemade cookies and treats on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The 24/7 Tea Lounge offers a variety of herbal teas for anytime enjoyment. On campus, the MOKA Origins Factory is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering handcrafted, ethically sourced chocolate and coffee, with free tours and tastings on Saturdays.
